An Inconvenience Turned Into A Miraculous Opportunity To Save Someone’s life
Kevin Powell shared another great miracle story with me via a Facebook message on March 24th, 2025. While locked out of his youth camp and sitting in his car for hours, he prayed to God, “ok God, this has happened for a reason, I know it, I’ll wait”. A woman pulls up in her car hours later and attempts to harm herself. Kevin ministered to her and may have saved her life. Read his incredible story below.
A Catholic youth Anchor weekend in South Sydney.
I arrived in the dark and was met at the gate (about 1.2 km from the campsite).
Greetings and hugs were exchanged over the closed gate. The gate was unlocked for me (or so I thought). They got into their car and drove in.
I went to open the gate, only to find it still locked (a trick was played on me).
So, I sat there in the dark, locked out.
I sat in my car and prayed, “Okay, God, this has happened for a reason. I know it. I’ll wait.”
And wait I did—1.2, 3.2 hours, in fact.
Suddenly, a car from outside drove up and parked only 10 meters from me.
I was hidden in the dark, sitting in my car.
A young woman turned on the light in her car, and I saw she was crying.
She pulled out a large knife and *censored – she tried to harm herself*.
I turned on my lights, and my spotlights lit up the whole area.
She dropped the knife.
“God, how did you organize this?”
I walked up to her car,
Smiled, and said, “Everything is going to be okay.”
We chatted for about an hour.
I ministered to her.
She gave me the knife and drove off.
I was in awe. God is awesome.
I sat there for about a minute when the car from inside returned with the keys to let me in.
Apparently, the leader had taken the keys and hidden them. The game of hide and seek. It took just long enough for one lost sheep to be found.
The leader of the camp apologized, and I showed him the knife and told him the story. He replied, “of course Kev, I knew God was up to something!”
